Clearing & Purification – How to Smudge

Smudging is an old and ancient practice where the burning of herbs are used for cleansing and purification before sacred ritual. The ritual calls upon the spirits of sacred plants to drive away negative energies, restoring balance by shifting the element of air, transforming our mind, body and sacred space, elevating the highest levels of peace and tranquility.

I’ve put together three items I love for clearing and cleansing of space. First a handmade aromatic White Sage 6-inch smudge wand. White Sage is traditionally used for cleansing the home and the body, clearing away negative energies and removing emotional garbage. White sage has a lovely sweet aromatic aroma and is known for its clearing and healing properties and is also a symbol of purity.

Next, a large Palo Santo stick. Palo Santo, also known as “sacred wood” is an all-natural, organic wood, used as incense since ancient times as a spiritual remedy for purification and cleansing, clearing negativity, evil spirits, mistortune, as well as for medicinal purposes. It has a fine citrus aroma with underlying notes of Frankincense it’s close relative. It is often used by Shaman in sacred plant and spirit ceremonies for purification. A powerful incense smudge blend for clearing stagnant, negative, evil energies, banishing, cleasning, clearing, purification, healing and renewal of sacred space.

And finally a beautiful Lemurian point crystal. Lemurian crystals, also known as Record Keeper Crystals, are specifically used in spiritual healing when the entire organism is out of balance with itself. I find this crystal particularly useful as it conducts and amplifies the universal life force. Lemurian crystals are useful for overall balance and healing. As well, when preparing for sacred ritual, the Lemurian helps us to infuse oneself with pure emotional, intuitive, spiritual consciousness and awareness.

Sage Wands Magic Smudge Goddess

To smudge using either the sage wand or Palo Santo wand, light the wand and smoke all around your body to cleanse and purify yourself. This is done before ritual or spell casting. To clear the home, light the wand and begin in the eastern corner of your house, moving in a widdershins (counterclockwise) direction to each corner of the home. SInce you are banishing negative energies, you always want to smudge in a counterclockwise direction. Extinquish in a abalone shell after use.

This set comes tied with handmade ribbon & rose. What a perfect little house-warming gift!

Happy smudging –
