Mabon Rituals, Autumn Equniox and Harvest Traditions

September 22nd is the Autumn Equinox!

Mabon marks the point of the Autumn Equinox and is the second harvest as we begin to store our years crops for the coming of the long winter months ahead. As the day and night are divided equally at this time, we anticipate the coming of the impending darkness of winter.

Traditional symbolism of a cornucopia, overflowing with the years harvest, spills over in abundance, filled with ripe yummy apples, berries, corn, and pumpkins as we celebrate the bounty and blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

Abundance is everywhere this season, and we sometimes tend to take for granted those who have been there for us during times of abundance and also during times of sadness. Mabon is a great time for celebrating friendship and relationships. Reflect upon the close friendships you have established and nurtured throughout the years, and don’t forget your animal familiars and animal friends. For they have helped make our abundance possible by reminding us that there is love and beauty surrounding us both spiritually and emotionally.

Mabon Rituals – As we approacMabon_Candles_White_Magick_Alchemy_copy1__74966.1376624511.1280.1280h the Autumn Equinox, also known as Mabon, we can feel the season begin to shift. The sun is going down around earlier than the usual 8:30pm or 9pm. We can feel the sun’s energy blazing life into all that is around us. During the month of September, believe it or not, we are beginning to decorate for Samhain! Dark fall reds, orange, I love incorporating purple, burgundy, brown and black in in my fall decor as well as floral arrangements with Sunflowers for the center of the altars. Also herb & wildflower bouquets! The blending of decor and altar pieces during Mabon and into Samhain can be seamless by simply adding Samhain decor to your existing Mabon decor, especially if you are pressed for time.

For a center altar and celebratory candle, my Mabon Autumn Equinox Glass Vigil Candles are perfect. Drenched in the true colors of Mabon and Autumn, each candle is sprinkled with my witch blessed Mabon Herb and Flora & Fruits Blend then sprinkled with sparkling golden autumn glitters rich in colors that represent the the coming of fall. Each candle is $20.00 and burn time on these are approx 120 hours. Great ritual vigil candle for the harvest season.

Wishing you bountiful blessings for the Autumn Equinox!  Get out into nature and soak in all of mother earth’s beauty, we only have a few months left. Feel the sun’s radiant heat energize you. For soon we will be slipping into the cold darkness of winter.  Now I’m off to bake a gorgeous apple pie!
