To use, light the herbs in a safe burning incense vessel on a charcoal disk (used for burning incense and resins), preferably a cauldron or something with a handle. Smoke all around your sacred ritual space, inside or out of doors. Smoke around the body to cleanse and purify yourself and others before sacred ritual. To clear the home, light the herbs and begin in the eastern corner of your home, moving in a widdershins (counter-clockwise) direction to each corner of the home. Since you are clearing negative energies, you will always want to smudge in a counter-clockwise direction.
