Samhain – The Season of The Witch
Samhain, pronounced “sow-en”, is the Witches New Year, and is the most magical and important night of the year for pagans, wiccans and celts throughout the world.
A celebration of death, it is also a time of endings, reflection of mortality, and releasing that which no longer serves in the mundane world. As well, a time of new beginnings, setting our intentions and focusing on a refreshed and renewed destiny.
Exactly opposite Beltane (May Day, May 1st) on the Wheel of the Year, Samhain is Beltane’s dark twin. With the veil now at its thinnest, we divine answers, making contact with our ancestral spirits, embracing our heritage in celebration with those who have crossed over into the spirit world. The veil begins to thin about Oct 15th with the veil at its very thinnest upon the eve of Oct 31st.
The holiday season goes to about thru Nov 10th or so. During this time, divination is at its highest point. The modern world recognizes this holiday as Halloween.
